BFA., Bed., DKATI, RP Psychotherapist
I became a therapist to help individuals express themselves in ways that foster understanding, nurture growth, encourage resilience, and build upon strengths. I seek to provide a culturally sensitive, safe, and trauma-informed therapeutic experience and feel honoured to be part of my clients' healing journey. Staying current in best practice and evidence-based treatment approaches is not only a vital part of being an effective psychotherapist but something I value and cherish as I too continue to learn and grow.
Establishing a contained, accepting, and empathetic space where individuals can safely explore the challenges that have brought them into therapy is important to me. I am a Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario, Registered Canadian Art Therapist, and Ontario Certified Teacher. I was trained in a phenomenological, person-centred Art Therapy approach, and also very grounded in psychodynamic theory. Both my teaching and clinical experiences have enabled me to work with diverse populations of children, adolescents, and adults including those who have experienced trauma and abuse, severe mental illness, ADHD, depression, PTSD, concurrent disorders, and dementia.
As an Associate of Dr. Nagasawa, I will be providing Cognitive Processing Therapy to WSIB clients.
